Bentley Productions was founded in 1993 and is best known for the internationally successful drama series Midsomer Murders, which films its 100th 2 hour episode this year.
Midsomer Murders, originally starring John Nettles as DCI Tom Barnaby, is one of the top rated drama series on UK television and has been sold to over 240 territories. Achieving peak time ratings consistently in excess of 6 million viewers and with the many daytime repeats reaching up to 2 million viewers, the series was described by the Independent as "a jewel in ITV's crown." Now into its 16th series, Neil Dudgeon is DCI John Barnaby, and Gwilym Lee is DS Charlie Nelson.
Between 2002 and 2005, Bentley produced an action thriller for ITV1 called Ultimate Force. Ross Kemp stared as Sergeant Henno Garvie in a series following the exploits of a crack SAS troop. The success of the show led to the commissioning of four series which enjoyed huge success overseas selling to over 140 territories.
In June 2011 Jo Wright joined Bentley Productions to produce Midsomer Murders, and was promoted to the role of Managing Director the following year. As part of a plan to expand the company beyond its existing successes, Tom Winchester was hired as Head of Development in April 2012.
